This is going to get me through tomorrow.

I'll see if I can find the transcript of his testimony in front of some subcommittee or other when they were talking about cutting public television funding in the '70s. It's amazing.

To say that Mr Junod is merely "brilliant" would be doing him a disservice. Several times while reading this article, I said to myself "he's just showing off", and every time that I said that I was glad that he had.

It was great to get to know the man outside of his sweater and tenny shoe television persona. Pretty much the same guy, eh? I'm thankful that this genuinely good man got to share his enormous heart with so many.

Thanks Mandy.

TECHNICAL NOTE: anybody else having the comment box blank out when trying to post? This is the second time I've had to rewrite a reply on this blog.

I'm glad to know that Mr. Rogers was really as humble and wonderful in real life as he was on TV. I loved watching him when I was growing up, and this whole story was just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing :)

I loved Mr. Rogers. I used to put on my sneakers with him at the beginning of each program. I loved all of the repeated activities, zipping up the sweater, feeding the fish.
Now I am watching him again with my daughter. She likes all the other loud kids shows, but has an appreciation of Mr. Rogers as well. She knows he is different.
He sang a song the other day,

Peace and quiet, peace, peace, peace.
Peace and quiet, peace, peace, peace.
Peace and quiet, peace, peace, peace.
We all want peace,
We all want peace.

Who but Fred Rogers would ever write such a song?
